So this past month I have been working on my very first ever attempt at refinishing a piece of old furniture. My sweet Grandmother passed away last July and I was lucky to get something that will always remind me of my grandparents. I loved the potentional that this cute little desk had, and I just knew it would look great in my hallway upstairs, but I had NEVER tried to refinish anything, so attempt it I did. And it turned out amazing if I do say so myself! I sanded it down, put some primer on it, painted it a bright cherry red, and antiqued the edges.
Some before and after pictures. I want to find something cute to put on it but I haven't find anything I really like so far. But I love the way it turned out and it fits perfectly in our little house!
My only advice to anyone who might try to refinish something, wait until summer to start. Working outside in my garage in the middle of winter = very cold! But totally worth it in the end. I miss my grandparents sometimes when I realize they won't be around when I have my first baby or when my little sister get's married, but I am lucky to have the memories that we created and I love that I will always have this to remind me of them.
